Student Research, Creative Activity & Scholarship Internal Funding Opportunities
1. Conference Travel Funding
ORSP is partnering with Undergraduate Research to provide Florida Conference Travel Funding for JU students during the 2026鈥�2027 academic year. Priority will be given to students attending the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC), January 29鈥�30, 2027, in Kissimmee, Florida. Applications will also be considered from students planning to attend discipline-specific research conferences elsewhere in Florida during the academic year.
Application Window: August 24, 2026 through October 15, 2026.
Interested students should submit one email with the following attachments, as applicable:
- Abstract: A 150鈥�300 word abstract outlining their research project.
- Student Statement: A student-written statement explaining how attending the conference would advance their academic and professional goals.
- Budget: One page budget document outlining eligible conference travel expenses, such as registration fees, accommodations, & travel expenses. Request must not exceed $500.
- Faculty Statement: A signed statement of support from the faculty mentor addressing the value and rigor of the student's research and the value of attending the specific conference (required for conferences other than FURC)Subject Line for Email Submission: 鈥�<student first and last name> Florida Conference Travel Funding鈥�

Funding and Reimbursement: Awards will be considered for eligible expenses up to $500. Allowable expenses may include conference registration fees, hotel accommodations, mileage or other approved transportation costs, parking, and tolls. Meals, beverages, and other incidental or personal expenses are not eligible for reimbursement.
Funding will not be provided to student in advance. Students receiving an award will be reimbursed for eligible expenses in accordance with university reimbursement procedures and must submit itemized receipts and other required documentation. Expenses reimbursed through another university account or other funding source are not eligible for reimbursement through this program. Awards may be issued for less than $500 and will be based on eligible expenses and available funding.
2. Student RCAS (Research, Creative Activity, and Scholarship) Grants
The Student RCAS provide seed funding to support student-initiated research and scholarship. Competitive grants are awarded to assist graduate and undergraduate students in developing new lines of inquiry, which may include collecting and analyzing pilot data.
2026-2027 Student RCAS Application
Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis from July 1 through Friday, November 20, 2026, or until available funds are exhausted - whichever occurs first. Awards will also be made on a rolling basis, with decisions typically issued within 10 business days. The project period will run from the date of award through May 1, 2027, and all funds must be expended by March 1, 2027. Extensions will not be considered.
